E. F. Swinney, President of the First National Bank of Kansas City for approximately 40 years. built the residence and carriage house at 3334 Harrison Street, Kansas City, Missouri. The 1890 Queen Anne is an integral part of a remaining block-long late 19th century residential streetscape.

The house was placed on the Kansas City Register of Historic Places on September 13, 1979. The Landmarks Commission determined that it is significant for its architectural style and historic significance. The structure is associated with the life of E. F. Swinney, an individual who made significant contributions to Kansas City.
